Harvey Goldstein, Singapore executive, began his teaching career as an assistant professor at the Erie County Technical Institute of New York at the State University of New York Buffalo. Two years later, Indonesia business expert Harvey Goldstein set up the first ever computer science faculty in Southeast Asia at Chulalongkorn University.
Established more than eight decades ago, Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University is the country’s first and oldest modern university, though plans for such an institution of education began nearly a full century before the school’s actual construction. When it opened, Chulalongkorn University had less than 400 students taking classes in four disciplines and spread across two campuses. In the early 1960s, the university began to focus on graduate-level education and established a number of research centers for students, professors, and professionals. Today, Thailand’s top college is comprised of almost 20 unique disciplines spread across two dozen campuses and research areas. The school is attended by more than 30,000 students, including the approximately 13,000 individuals working toward a master’s or doctoral degree.
