In his capacity as president of Harvest International, Harvey Goldstein has overseen the provision of advisory services to companies and foreign investors interested in doing business in Indonesia. His business and advisory efforts have extended beyond Indonesia to Southeast Asia, more broadly speaking. Harvey Goldstein chairs the Southeast Asia Advisory Board of Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth (CTY). In 2013, he and his wife established a scholarship fund that has enabled students from Singapore to attend CTY programs.

In the late 1970s, the CTY was established. The organization nurtures the talents of younger people through various programs, and by providing them with various services and resources. Leading visionaries, such as the creator of Facebook and a co-founder of Google, were CTY students.

Another CTY student, Megan Sims, wrote a regular column in the Dallas Morning News, a paper with a readership of over 250,000, while still a sophomore in high school. The response to her bimonthly column was positive.

Milad Pooran, another former student of CTY, who was enrolled in the advanced math program, has gone on to give exemplary service as a combat medic with the National Guard. An immigrant from Iran, he is a seasoned physician who has also had the opportunity to conduct research on HIV at the National Institutes of Health.

Harvey Goldstein is the managing director of Business-Link Consultancy in Singapore. In past years, he has played leaderships roles in the Kadin Indonesia Komite Amerika Serikat and the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia. In addition, Harvey Goldstein supports the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

The Center for Talented Youth Online is a digital hub designed to help pre-K to grade-12 students advance their learning. Eligibility for the program is based on student performance on one of a number of specific tests, according to the student’s grade level. Scores received not only determine eligibility, but also establish which programs a student can enroll in. For students in the second to the eighth grades, eligibility for testing is determined by a global talent search conducted by the Center for Talented Youth. The talent search identifies students with outstanding academic ability.

Academically talented students unable to take the eligibility test on time can apply for provisional admission. This allows them to enroll in one course through CTY Online. In addition, students may qualify for the Study of Exceptional Talent (SET) program. Qualified students must score at least 700 on the math or critical reading sections of the SAT before their 13th birthday, or 10 points higher for each month beyond their 13th birthday.
